The challenge: 12 buses, no visibility
Groupe Scolaire Teranga operates 4 campuses across Dakar, serving 1,200 students from kindergarten through high school. They owned 12 buses and employed drivers directly. On paper, the system worked. In practice, parents were calling the front desk 40+ times per day asking where the bus was.
Delays were common but unpredictable. Drivers sometimes changed routes without informing the school. And when a child was absent, there was no automated way to notify the driver, leading to wasted stops and frustrated families.
The solution: Weego School on their existing fleet
Weego School was deployed on top of the school existing fleet. No new vehicles, no new drivers. Each bus received a GPS tracker. Each driver got the Weego Driver app. Parents downloaded the Weego School parent app and could see their child bus location in real time.
The admin dashboard gave the school a bird-eye view of all 12 buses simultaneously. Route adherence, stop times, attendance — everything was tracked automatically. Parents could mark absences from the app, and drivers skipped empty stops.
“The number one question parents asked us was: where is the bus? Now they just open the app. Our front desk staff can finally focus on education, not logistics.”
Results after one semester
Parent complaints dropped by 85%. Zero missed pickups in 4 months. Average route completion time decreased by 12 minutes per route due to absence-aware routing. The school estimated an annual savings of 480,000 CFA in fuel alone from optimized routes.
