Casablanca, Thursday, May 14, 2026, On the occasion of the launch, this past May 9, of the new urban bus network in Benslimane operated by Foughal Bus, Moroccan startup Weego is deploying its mobility platform to serve the city's users. Real-time passenger information, ticket purchasing, subscription management, and the rechargeable card will all be available from the first day of operation. After Kenitra and Taza, Benslimane is the third Moroccan city where Weego is supporting Foughal Bus in modernizing public transport.
The conviction that has guided Weego's work from the start is that a public bus user should be able to access the service with the same fluidity they experience throughout the rest of their digital life.
Concretely, from the moment the network opens, users have access to several key features through the Weego app:
The changes for users are considerable: less friction when entering the network, greater predictability in their travel, and the ability to use the bus the way they use any everyday service, without special preparation, and without fear of getting it wrong.
Weego's ambition for Benslimane goes beyond the bus network alone and reflects a true MaaS (Mobility as a Service) approach, with the goal of making the application the single point of access for all travel within the city. As it develops, the platform is intended to integrate other available modes of transport (shared taxis, city taxis, ride-hailing services, and other local offerings). This evolution will eventually allow users to plan, book, and combine different mobility solutions easily within a single trip.
Weego brings to Benslimane an approach already proven in several Moroccan cities, whose usage indicators have become one of the strongest arguments for public mobility in Morocco.
In Kenitra, the app now has more than 100,000 monthly active users, who open it on average seven times per day. These figures point to a clear behavior pattern: public buses are no longer a mode of transport consulted on the fly, they are a mode integrated into daily routines. For urban public transport, this level of usage is rare, even by international standards.
In Taza, the adoption dynamic observed is following the same trajectory. It is this momentum, now documented across two cities, that Weego is bringing to Benslimane.
These results are possible because Weego has the good fortune to work with an operator that shares the same commitment to service quality. In this respect, Foughal Bus is a partner whose dedication to modernizing Moroccan public transport has enabled Weego to deploy its solution under the best possible conditions in Kenitra, Taza, and now Benslimane.
"We are very proud to continue supporting Foughal Bus, which is, in our view, one of the best public transport operators in Morocco. The combination of a demanding operator and a digital platform designed for the user produces results that the numbers make undeniable. Every new city where we work together confirms this, and Benslimane represents a major milestone in our shared journey.", Saad Jittou, CEO of Weego
The launch of the Benslimane network comes in a particularly noteworthy context: the city is preparing to host the world's largest stadium as part of the 2030 World Cup, co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal. The decision by Foughal Bus and the city of Benslimane to put a modern public transport network in place as early as 2026, rather than waiting for the event to approach, is, from Weego's perspective, particularly remarkable. It gives the city four years to grow its service and its mobility ecosystem alongside its residents, and to arrive in 2030 with a proven system rather than one that has only just been inaugurated.
Weego is proud to contribute, in its own way, to a momentum that extends well beyond transport alone.
Weego is a Moroccan startup that publishes an urban mobility platform. Its solution covers real-time passenger information, ticketing, subscription management, and the rechargeable card, and is moving toward a comprehensive MaaS approach. Deployed in Safi, Nador, Kenitra, Taza, and now Benslimane in partnership with Foughal Bus, it counts more than 100,000 monthly active users in Kenitra alone, who open the app on average seven times per day.
